Bio

Born in Alexandria, VA, to a singer mother and computer scientist father, Rebecca has always been a unique blend of the academic and artistic. From a young age, she had a passion for science, literature and writing, but just as much for singing, playing the piano and ice skating. These multi-faceted interests have evolved through her life into a BA in Psychology, multiple certifications and a 12 year career teaching Pilates/Yoga and Gyrotonic, dancing professionally, and currently returning to singing, songwriting and music. It is her goal to use her life to keep exploring how she can grow and also offer her unique gifts to others in a way that leaves a lasting impression. As Martha Graham, modern dance pioneer, said:

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, not how it compares with other expression. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.”

Currently, Rebecca lives and works in Rockville, MD, where she teaches private and small group fitness classes through her virtual studio, is finishing her Songwriting and Producing Music degree at Berklee College of Music, and is working on her upcoming release “Breaking Open”, a collection of original songs. She is grateful to dance every day, for the existence of dark chocolate and sunflower sprouts, and to have a sweet family unit with her husband, Nick, and dog-daughter, Sammy.

Mission

As an artist, I choose to keep me eyes wide, my senses alive, my perspective adaptable and my heart open. The courageous choices of showing up even when things are tough and seeking to evolve, are how we discover ourselves, and I seek to walk this path in my life and share what I have learned through my work. Whether I am singing, playing music, writing, dancing, teaching or telling, I always offer the same things: Commitment, perspective, and 100% heart.
